Hi, my name is Missi. I am a wife
and mother of two amazing children. My husband and I have been together for
eighteen years. Our son is seven years old, and our daughter is three years
old. We also have two cats, Mayhem and Yuna. My hobbies include reading,
walking in nature, watching movies at home with my family, and playing video
games. I am a student at Columbus State Community College in the Early
Childhood Development and Education degree program. After graduating with my
associate degree, I will attend Ohio State University to obtain my bachelor
degree and teaching license. Additionally, I recently accepted a position as a
floater teacher at an early childhood center.
I have wanted to be a teacher ever
since I was a child. My third-grade teacher was my first inspiration. Her
compassion for her students and instructional methods were a new experience for
me. I wanted to make an impactful difference in the lives of others the way
that she had for me. However, by the time I was in high school I began to doubt
myself and my academic abilities. After graduating, I did not attend college
and instead I worked in foodservice for fifteen years.
When my son was born, I wanted to
be able to provide him with a better life than I had and I never wanted him to feel
how I had felt about my own abilities and educational achievement (or lack
thereof). Thus, my son was my second inspiration and my true motivation to
finally attend college to achieve my goal of becoming a teacher. I desire to
teach kindergarten or first grade after obtaining my bachelor degree but for
now I am enjoying being a preschool teacher as I earn my associate degree.
